Rutgers has been ranked No. 1 for a year in recruiting rankings for 2018, with Ohio State in second place and two other power-five programs (Kansas State and Florida) on the board.
Rutgers has not signed any players this recruiting cycle, but the Buckeyes have been actively recruiting the Scarlet Knights for years.
While Ohio State is ranked No, 11 nationally, the Buckeye and its football staffs have been at the top of recruiting rankings since the late 1990s.
Ohio State had previously recruited Rutgers for three consecutive years before losing two of those meetings to the Scarlet Knight’s football program.
The Buckeyes also had three visits scheduled for the Scarlet Owls for this recruiting class.
The Scarlet Knights have four scholarship players who have committed to play in the NFL: defensive end Malik Brown (Ohio State), cornerback Jordan Westerkamp (Ohio), running back Andrew Pryor (Ohio) and wide receiver K.J. Wright (Ohio).
