The top-rated high school recruit in the state of New York, Anthony Davis, is scheduled to graduate from the University of Kentucky and the Orange are poised to be one of the nation’s top teams again.
The top-ranked recruit in New York in 2021 is the 6-foot-11, 230-pound Davis, a 6-7, 200-pound wing, who has made an immediate impact for Kentucky in recent years and is expected to play a major role for the Wildcats again this season.
Davis was the No. 2 overall recruit in 2019 and has gone on to play in the 2017 NBA Draft and the 2018 NBA Draft.
He was a finalist for the Wooden Award in 2017.
The other top-25 recruits in the country are: Kentucky guard Malik Monk (No. 22); Washington guard DeAndre Daniels (No 27); North Carolina guard Jalen Hill (No 32); Florida guard Jalston Fowler (No 33); Michigan State guard De’Aaron Fox (No 34); and UCLA guard Jordan Bell (No 36).
The No. 30 recruit in 2021, Syracuse’s Xavier Oduya, is expected back in school for his sophomore season after being forced to withdraw due to NCAA transfer rules.
The Syracuse recruiting rankings have remained stable since 2020 and this year, the top-20 players in the nation in 2021 are: 6-9, 210-pound guard Trey Lyles, a top-40 prospect in 2019; 6-5, 185-pound forward Josh Bellamy, a potential top-10 prospect; 6th-ranked forward Tyus Jones, a high-scoring guard; and 5th-rated center Sammie Young, a wing.
