More than 60,000 soldiers from the United States Army National Guard are expected to deploy to Iraq, according to the Army.
Army recruiting officials say the soldiers are coming from all over the country.
Some have been in the military for more than 30 years.
They will be coming to fight with us.
The first contingent is expected to arrive on September 16, the Army said in a news release.
“I think it’s going to be a pretty exciting time,” Army recruiting official Joe DeCarlo told CNN.
“We’re going to have the most combat-ready military on the planet, and we’ve been working on getting ready to do that.”
The announcement came amid reports that ISIS has been planning to attack the U-S.
military’s recruiting center in Erbil, Iraq.
The U.K.-based group claimed responsibility for an attack on the recruiting center, which houses recruits from around the world.
The U.N. says there is no credible evidence that ISIS or any other group is planning to use Erbil as a staging ground to launch attacks in the United Kingdom or the United Sates.
The group also has claimed responsibility in a video for an assault on a British hotel.
