A top-25 recruiting class for Kentucky is still months away, but a handful of other schools have taken the time to offer and look at offers from their top-100 prospects.
Here are five more that are getting ready to make an offer.
Clemson – Louisville, KY (1:15 p.m.
ET Thursday, CBS)The Blue Devils have been busy since the start of the recruiting cycle and they are already looking to add some quality depth at receiver and quarterback.
But with the addition of Louisville offensive lineman Joe Thomas and Louisville defensive tackle Anthony Walker, they could be looking at adding a quarterback or running back to complement the playmakers at quarterback and running back.
Kentucky was a strong candidate for the ACC East, but they have to be a little bit more cautious with Thomas.
The 6-foot-6, 310-pound Thomas has great size for a defensive lineman, but he isn’t the fastest or strongest and isn’t as agile.
If Kentucky wants to add speed and explosiveness, they will have to wait and see what other schools are offering.
Louisville is in the hunt for a quarterback, but that will be up to the coaches and the players to decide, according to 247Sports Composite Composite Rankings.
Georgia – Miami (FL), FL (1 p.c.
ET Friday, ESPN)Georgia is in an interesting situation right now.
It’s on track to be the No. 1 team in the country in the 2017 class and the team that could potentially land Kentucky quarterback Mitch Trubisky, who is a consensus top-10 quarterback.
The Bulldogs are in need of a quarterback.
They were looking to land a quarterback in the Class of 2021 after getting an offer from LSU and then the Blue Devils landed Clemson offensive lineman Tyler Davis.
Davis is the most talented prospect in the 2018 class.
The two will be competing for the starting job this fall and Davis will be the one to lose if the Blue Devil doesn’t take him.
But Davis is a talented quarterback and could be a valuable addition for Georgia.
Georgia was a top-three recruiting class nationally last season, but their quarterback situation has been shaky the past few years.
The Jackets have struggled with quarterbacking in the past two seasons.
They have a ton of talent at the position, but only one quarterback has won at least 10 games in each of the past four seasons: Florida State quarterback Jameis Winston.
Winston has been successful in Clemson’s offense, but the Bulldogs have had success with him in his time at Clemson, with three quarterbacks winning a national championship and one of those victories being at Georgia.
The Blue Devils could be interested in Winston as well, but Winston is still considered a top quarterback in this class.
South Carolina – Florida State, SC (8:30 p.t.
ET Saturday, ESPN3)Florida State is the team in search of the next national championship.
After beating Clemson in the SEC championship game and beating Auburn and Alabama to win the national championship last year, the Seminoles will look to win their fifth national title in six years.
South Florida was in the top 25 in the 247Sports composite rankings, but this class is more focused on a QB than a running back or wide receiver.
South Alabama is a great school with a ton in the trenches at running back and receiver.
They could add some depth to the position in the class.
LSU – Ohio State, OH (12:30 a.m., ET Friday)LSU could be in the mix for the No .1 overall recruit in the nation and the No 1 running back in the Big 12, according the 247Composite rankings.
This class has a ton to offer.
The Buckeyes could add another big running back, but it would be a tough one.
It would have to come from Ohio State or another top program in the MAC.
The Ohio State offense is explosive and could run the ball.
But if Ohio State doesn’t commit, it could be tough to get a top recruit to play for the Buckeyes.
Oklahoma – Arizona State, AZ (5:30 pm ET Saturday)The Cowboys have been on a roll with their offensive line, as they are a top 100 recruiting class this year.
Arizona State offensive lineman Alex Balderrama is a guy that could be the difference between the Cowboys going back to the top 10 in the 2019 class.
Balderramos can play either guard spot and has been a solid run blocker in the run game, but Arizona State has a lot of talent there.
Arizona is in need to add a quarterback to complement quarterback Jaelen Strong and receiver Tyree Robinson, according for 247Comps.
Ohio State is still searching for a QB and running backs, but is definitely going to be looking for a player that can contribute at the quarterback position.
USC – Texas A&M, TX (7:30 am ET Saturday), TX (8 a.n.m.)
The Aggies were ranked as the No 5 team in recruiting and the top recruiting class
